Latest paper on creating dementia-friendly communities

We’re thrilled to share our latest publication, Titled Creating dementia-friendly communities: Challenging stigma and building understanding through public education.

What’s the study about?
The stigma surrounding dementia has profound effects on individuals, leading to social isolation, fear, anxiety, and a diminished quality of life. To address this, we developed a public education program aimed at increasing awareness of dementia and challenging harmful stereotypes.

What did we find?
Our program showed remarkable success in:

  • Increasing knowledge and understanding of dementia.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour changes to foster dementia-friendly communities.

Why does this matter?
Combating stigma is crucial for creating inclusive environments where people living with dementia can thrive. This research highlights the power of education in transforming perceptions and promoting compassionate, supportive communities.
